Phil Nurse put the N in NASTY! This celebrated British Muay Thai Fighter of Barbadian descent dominated the British and European light welterweight circuit for years with his tricky footwork, lighting speed, unpredictable strikes and NASTY clinch. He currently owns and operates The Wat, a Muay Thai school in New York City, where he trains both Muay Thai fighters and MMA fighters, such as UFC Welterweight Champion, George St. Pierre.
A student of the great Muay Thai Master, Kru Sken, Phil Nurse had an impressive fight career with 32 wins (15 by KO) and 3 losses. Kru Phil holds three Muay Thai championship belts, the Undefeated European Light Welterweight Champion Belt, the Double British Champion Belt, and the British All Styles Super Light Welterweight Belt. He dominated the European and British professional Muay Thai circuit for years and also trained and competed in Thailand.
With Kru Sken’s blessing, Kru Phil opened his own Muay Thai school in New York City in 1995, and a few years later, expanded his operation and opened The Wat, where he continues to train top notch Muay Thai fighters who have competed all over North America and the world. In the past couple of years Kru Phil has also taken to training MMA fighters including UFC Welterweight Champion George St. Pierre, King of Pancrase Nate Marquardt, and UFC Light Heavy Weight Contender Rashad Evans.
